This section of the Website gives and overview of current Armenian Legislation, Eu Legislation and Directives, International Agreements and National Strategy of Armenia. It examines the various laws and directives and also refers to the Pilot Waste Management Strategy at Ararat and Vayots Dzor carried out in 2004.

 

The Legal and Institutional Matters reviewed how these structures should be adapted to facilitate appropriate waste collection and disposal. The review addressed changes to be made at State Level, such as changes in legislation and adjusting of Institutional structures, and also initiatives on the level of municipalities and waste operators to deal with day to day issues.

 

The laws on waste collection and disposal were reviewed and are shown in the attached Review of Legal/Institutional Matters. However, the style of drafting laws in Armenia, and other countries in transition, results in laws of a general nature, Government may also issue byelaws.
